One-day Communication Training

Communication is more than communication. Using it rightly, it is a process of co-creation and co-evolve.

Introduction:

Communication is a process of co-creation. It is vital in building relationships between people and inspiring them towards achieving results. 
This training will deal with two facets of communication. Firstly, the inner aspect: how we talk to ourselves– our belief systems, identity patterns and personality type. Secondly, how deeply we can understand others’ intentions and feelings and based on those, express ourselves fully and effectively. It is about generously listening to others and genuinely expressing oneself. In-depth understanding of our own strengths and weaknesses as well as understanding the principles of interpersonal dynamics are the essential basics of this program.
On completion of the program you will understand how your communication plays the center role in determining other’s responses and how it helps you to get desired behaviors from others. This training aims to equip you with the practical skills of effective communication with regards to building relationships and getting results. It will lay the foundation for becoming a change agent in your organization, your department, your team and most importantly, your own life.

General objectives:

  • Experience the joy of communication through the dual journey of truly listening and fully expressing
  • Become a naturally pleasant and powerful communicator who is contributing to building relationships and bringing forth results

Specific objectives:

  • Increase awareness of our beliefs and communication strategy (which are very personal)
  • Become an enthusiastic listener by connecting oneself with the speaker’s point of view, feeling and intention
  • Practice assertiveness in communication – the art of expressing oneself truly without hurting others
  • Master the genuine influencing skills by understanding how we create the responses that we get from others
  • Become masterful in converting discussions and debates to dialogues

Part A. Vital Attitude Skills in Communication

  • Active listening and empathetic listening
  • Authentic speaking
    • Assertive communication
    • Shift from reaction to response
    • Learn to convey microscopic truth
  • Questioning skills
    • Curious questioning, enabling dialogue and openness to learning (based on  Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks ‘openness to learning scale’)

Part B. Orchestrating the Vital Attitude Skills

  • Using the communication skills in real life situations (based on Edward de Bono’s principles)
    • how to agree
    • how to disagree
    • how to differ
    • how to respond
    • how to start a new topic
    • how to interrupt
    • how to be interesting
  • The art of giving and receiving feedback
  • Influencing skills (Thirty methods of influencing)
  • Conflict handling and negotiation styles (based on Thomas-Kilmann Mode Instruction)

Methodology:

  • Communication skills: The trainers will use the communication skills themselves to demonstrate in real life how the skills can generate lively dialogues and enliven communication and learning.
